Jaquet Droz - Grande Seconde Quantième Satin-Brushed

As pure as they are elegant, two new versions of this iconic model celebrate the expertise and excellence of Jaquet Droz.

What is beauty? First and foremost, it is a story. For nearly three hundred years, Jaquet Droz has told it from every angle. A virtuoso of decorative arts as well as mechanical complications, the brand known by its twin stars has retained a sense of what is essential: a taste for simplicity. Anticipating the “less is more” aesthetic so dear to contemporary designers, restrained sophistication has been one of its signatures as well as one of its key creative principles.

This has led to the creation of two new models of the Grande Seconde Quantième. The watch is instantly recognized by connoisseurs thanks to its two off-center dials, majestic direct-drive seconds hand and pointer-type date display highlighted with a touch of intense red. This emblematic silhouette is now displayed on a dial featuring a sunray finish, which helps capture and diffuse rays of light thus creating fascinating iridescence. Two shades are available - anthracite, equipped with hands in rhodium-plated steel, and gray, with hands in blued steel. Each version is available with a diameter of 39 or 43 millimeters. Playing on light and the meticulously studied volumes of the white gold indexes, these Grande Seconde Quantième Satin-Brushed watches diffuse a distinctive brilliance, matched by the gleam of the new hand-made straps in light brown and slate gray alligator leather. The sleek silhouette of the horns, the convex appliques and perfect curves of the bezel and steel case strengthen this performance of remarkable purity. Lastly, the date, located on an incline on the dial at six o’clock, brings an added touch of modernity to this work of visual architecture.

A model of refinement, the Grande Seconde Quantième Satin-Brushed watches are also examples of true watchmaking prowess. In order to guarantee even greater reliability, the balance spring and pallet horns of the self-winding movement have been made with silicon. With unparalleled flexibility, silicon is a material that is perfectly stable over time and can withstand shock and variations in temperature, pressure and magnetic fields. Few watchmaking manufactures have mastered the techniques required to integrate it into their timepieces. Combining technological advances, watchmaking mastery and aesthetic perfection, with the Grande Seconde Quantième Satin-Brushed, the brand known by its twin stars offers two new icons whose elegance and precision, at once classic and contemporary, defy the passage of time.
